Nick Strand
Full Name: Hey there, I’m Nicholas Strand, born and raised in the great Pacific Northwest!
School Level beginning this fall: I will be a sophomore in college this fall; and am currently pursuing a degree in Business.
Extra curricular activities: When I’m not working, you might find me hanging out with friends, traveling the globe, or feeding the inner writer in me. Speaking of food, did I mention I love Italian? Taco truck? Burgers on the grill? I like being organized, in a random sort of way, and I don’t like… well, not being organized (pocket protector not required).
Favorite movies: Braveheart, Life as a House, Sandlot, and pretty much anything with Will Ferrell.
What the JYAB means to you: The Jones Youth Advisory Board means a lot to me; I have had the opportunity to watch this program develop from its birthing and have a lot of anticipation for this next year.
What you hope to accomplish with the JYAB: My hope for the JYAB is to make Jones even more of a “now” company, continuing to “engage the culture” with exciting new products and marketing strategies that meet the Jones fans where there at.

Simon Pickup
Full Name: Simon Pickup
School Level beginning this fall: University
Extra curricular activities: Volunteering with the City of North Vancouver, SmartGrowth Canada and Youth Hydrogen. Non-competitive soccer and being in tourist in my own city.
Brief Bio: Simon Pickup is President of Youth Hydrogen, a youth organization he founded in 2004, that aims to dispel the fuel cell myth and show how gasoline competitive hydrogen can be achieved today. He has been working on sustainability and environmental issues since the age of 8, when he built his first hydrogen electrolyser.
Recently named a Youth-In-Motion Top 20 Under 20 Award Winner, Simon is also the recipient of the Hydrogenics Environmental Leadership Impact Award, and the City of North Vancouver Youth Recognition Award. He is the Youth Ambassador for SmartGrowth Canada and a youth advisor for the City of North Vancouver.
What the JYAB means to you: A once in a lifetime opportunity to learn at the feet of Peter van Stolk, meet amazing new people and make a difference at a legendary company.
What you hope to accomplish with the JYAB: To slay the proverbial dragon and help figure out how to best tweak Jones Soda's current marketing and outreach strategies to better reach young people.

Josh Walker
Full Name: My name is Joshua Andrew Walker, but if you call me by that in public, we may have an issue to discuss in the future.
School Level beginning this fall: I am a junior at highschool.
Extra curricular activities: My extra curricular activities include: Captain of the Ultimate Frisbee Team, member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), charter member of thePing Pong Club, cooking, President of Boys With Buoyancy Productions, world travel, wakeboarding, snowboarding, long boarding, just about anything that involves a board of one kind or another, and I love to play guitar.
Brief Bio: I have been described as a jack of all traits, and master of few. I have been called a hippy on more than one occasion and I could not be happier.
What the JYAB means to you: The JYAB is my way of giving back to a company that I respect for their individually and great product. It is a place for me to exercise my marketing ability without becoming a corporate jockey.
What you hope to accomplish with the JYAB: I hope that the JYAB will allow me to enhance my business skills as well as create relationships that may useful later in life. I hope to move Jones overseas as well, for I feel there is a massive potential market in the United Kingdom.

Eddy Airiants
Full Name: Eddy Airiants

Brief (Hah!) Biography: Eddy Airiants is Vice President of Youth Hydrogen, a hydrogen and clean energy lobbying society that aims to develop gasoline competitive hydrogen in Vancouver, British Columbia. In school, he is entering the second year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and commands 97% average. Recently recording the 10th highest score in Canada in the National Biology Competition, Eddy is also the recipient of the City of North Vancouver Community Enhancement Award, the City of North Vancouver Youth Appreciation Award, the District of West Vancouver Youth Leadership Award, and the provincial Canada Day Youth Award. He is the youth representative of the NGO Education without Borders and a youth adviser to the City of North Vancouver. Currently, Eddy is training for the provincial 2008 Novice Qualifier Bodybuilding Competition.
What JYAB Means to Me/What I hope to accomplish: The Jones Soda Youth Advisory Board is an unprecedented opportunity to work alongside a leading company in the beverage industry.
Having an chance to influence the direction of Jones is what motivated me to join. By accepting this opportunity, I wish to develop the future of the company. I want to make my voice heard not only as a youth, but also as a member of Jones who will bring forth diligence, dedication, but most importantly, fresh ideas.
I want to shape the future of Jones in a method that will promote the further development and expansion of the company. Most importantly, I want to learn and gain amazing relationships with everybody at Jones.
The opportunity to work so intimately with a company at such a young age is what ultimately inspired me to join. I want to gain experiences that I will forever remember and will always build upon. Ultimately, I want to contribute in a way so as to exceed all expectations placed upon me. I want to make my mark on Jones. |
Tyler Fowler
Full Name: Tyler Fowler
School Level in Fall: Sophomore
Extra-curricular Activities other than JYAB: Marching band, Church aide.
Brief Bio: I’m Tyler; I will be a sophomore this year and look forward to visiting Seattle for the first time to work with Jones soda.
I am really into music and attended Warp Tour this summer and 3 days of Lalapalooza!
What JYAB Means to Me: To me the JYAB means a chance to work with a great company and give my input towards marketing and sales.
What I hope to accomplish: Through the JYAB I hope to be able to gather a good work experience among other things. |
Kathryn Jordan
Full Name: I'm Kathryn Jordan (but everyone calls me Katie) and I'm from Dayton, Ohio.
School Level in Fall: This fall, I will enter the 11th grade at the Valley School.
Extra-curricular Activities other than JYAB: I'm involved in all sorts of super cool activities ranging from theatre to service projects.
Over the summer, I worked at the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio in addition to taking voice lessons that will help me rise to the top in the fall musical at my school.
When school starts, I will write for the school newspaper.
In the spring, I will play varsity softball for the second year, and, in the summer I will go with my church on a mission trip to West Virginia.
As for my likes and dislikes, I'm a huge fan of Aviator sunglasses, guitars, Chipotle, and, of course, Jones Soda, but smoking, buffets, bad grammar, and spiders aren't up there on my “favorites” list.
When I'm not singing, I'm with my friends showing off my lack of ping pong skills, or, more often, shoving a burrito in my mouth.
What JYAB Means to Me: I am honored to be part of the JYAB. I feel like it will give me a chance to have a say in something I really care about and let me work with people who care about it just as much as I do.
What I hope to accomplish: By the end of the year, I hope to pave the way for future Jr. Jones enthusiasts by sparking new ideas, creating change and excitement, and running all the way back to Ohio with some Jonesesque inspirations and ambitions, and, of course, the little guy.
